Sudden death is only a threat when in the air. It's an acute risk. Cognitive decline is a chronic risk, and affects every hour on the job.
Also much harder to identify. Especially when recurrent events are shared with the whole group hours or days after they go live. Hardly a rigorous test of one’s mental faculties when you can memorize the whole thing ahead of time.
