I'll call foul on that analogy. To even get to OakNotes you have to have Mission+ open--you share from Mission+ in the first place. You don't just click on some "download flight plan to OakNotes" link. To borrow from your (flawed) analogy, it would more accurately be like the other pilot printing out the ACARS PDC, then handwriting the same clearance on the other side of the paper, but in a more "user friendly" format. If for some reason in this example, you preferred the handwritten transcription, what's the problem--so long as you verified that it contained the same info as the official PDC printed on the other side?
The big difference is no one is handwriting already-issued PDC clearances, because the PDC format is good enough as is. Clearly, many don't feel that way about Mission+.
Of course you can. You never, ever, need to open up your active flight plan to get into Oaknotes.
