UAL used to be no sharing of landings for currency. There was no penalty and the pay was good to go to DEN for a day of bounces. However, after the near crash in SFO when a perma bunkie botched simple engine failure in the 747-400 the company changed it's stance. The lines were built so that even on reserve a guy got a landing every month. The company can be proactive or they can download the begging to the pilot. There is more than one way to skin a cat.
