Things I’ve heard other pilots say in 2023 to me or in my presence when I’m on the jump seat or they are in mine, on parking lot bus, or at job fair/industry stuff. Again not that these statements are right or wrong, but it made me think differently about the some of the logic out there these days. Certainly there isn’t a universal shared mental model.

“SkyWest technically is a major Airline, it’s just more efficient for the business model to be regional”

“ I mean coming from the seven four at Atlas doing international, going narrow body domestic at ______ (legacy) its a like a downgrade”

6 year Spirit Captain “ I still want to go to United, Im just gonna wait one more year to apply.”

Regional FO “ I’d go to JetBlue if they were hiring street captains, but to be an FO…….No thanks, it’s like no different than a regional”

Referencing a legacy new hire class. “ I have over 3000 hours………I’m like more than qualified for the job, there are people in there with like 2000.”

A two leg commuter from Brussels “Commuting is like THE WORST, I don’t know why anyone’s does it”
