Anyone have any 'latest & greatest' on what's going on at Chicago-O'Hare? Particularly with any projections for United's footprint?
Late last fall,
FAA gave the final go-ahead to ORD's $7.1 billion expansion + revamp. TBH, I didn't know they were even waiting for final approval since they had already added 9C/27C and tore up tons of the field already. The
ORD 21 project's website has some good general info that gets the occasional update. However, what's been lacking is solid info as to what growth United may see due to the project.
With the two new additional satellite concourses, how many total gates are being added? Of the additional gates, how many are going to United versus other carriers? How does the new 'global terminal' (currently Terminal 2) integrate with United's existing Terminal 1 footprint?
I'm curious how this ultimately increases staffing requirements for ORD. How many more 737/320 pilots will be needed for ORD? 756? With the 777 gone and the 787 contracting slightly out of Chicago, is widebody flying out of ORD going to stagnate or continue to shrink? I've been told there's been some of this info discussed at ORD townhalls, maybe some of you would be willing to share any projections discussed.
