from discussions with pilots from before 2014, NH used to not have a seat lock. I think that is a huge part of the reason.
Lots of older pilots have mentioned their only options in indoc were 727C or 737 express B, but in some cases it only took a few months before they could bid another position. I’ve flown with more than a couple pilots hired in 96-97 who told me they were 7ER B s before they were off probation.
I can only imagine the (even worse) training nightmare we would have had post Covid if NH did not have a seat lock.
