The NW MEC Chairman was notified the day after the DL MEC was notified that the merger was going to happen with the pilots or without the pilots. The NW Negotiating Committee Chairman was then notified the next day after the NW Chairman failed to respond (on vacation). He was invited to continue three party talks and was informed that the DL MEC would move forward on their own if the NW MEC declined. He acknowledged this.

The NW MEC did not respond any further for the next 9 days. By the time they started to call to take action it was too late, the merger was only a few days from announcement.

So their utter shock that DL was negotiating a deal was a nice little farce during the press conference, but it was just a little far from the truth. All along, the dysfunctional NW MEC has not been able to function as single unit, and this dysfunction led them to miss the train one more time. You can add this to they many different little fibs they have told over the last few weeks.
