That's correct. I've got enough time for an active duty retirement, but need more time in grade for an O-5 retirement. I haven't put in my retirement papers yet; I'll wait until I've got 3 yrs time in grade to retire as an O-5. Besides it's a good backup since I have an active SCI clearance with several additional compartments. If I were to retire, my clearances would get flushed unless I went direct to another job.
