I, like many of my friends left a pretty good seniority position in the captain seat of a 747 to start over at a legacy. Yes, you have to start over at the bottom of both pay and seniority. But you quickly gain so much in retirement, LTD, QOL, and other benefits that it just makes sense to many. Nothing wrong at all with Atlas. But if you can drive to work in Chicago…..I promise you can get hired by United or AA. With the new CBAs in play pay will be about 110,000 ish first year and 170,000 ish year two on the narrow body. Much more on the wide body but takes a few years in ORD.
I could drive to Chicago, but ideally it’s a short flight for me, ORD would be my ideal base

I do like being gone for 14 or so days than being back home for the rest, I hear atlas does that, but having to work for a little above CFI wages for 3yrs isn’t really in the cards for me, just seems disrespectful
