let’s think about where aviation tech was 50 years ago and where it is today. It’s not linear, it’s exponential. Another 50 years is what it would take to get my kids close to retirement. I’m not confident they can have a full career. That’s my worry.
I agree it will be past near or just past the 50 year mark before it truly goes pilotless, but thankfully there will be a lot of buildup and contract negotiations to get pilots taken care of, should they be replaced prior to retirement. Personally why I think NOW is the time contracts need to add two pilot clauses because it is virtually free to the airline at this point. 10 more years, I think airlines will start fighting harder to limit any language that requires two pilots or what should happen if they are removed.
