How difficult is it for a junior employee to have success with non rev travel since United has a seniority based nonrev policy? Someone told me that they've had several instances where at the last minute they've had non-listed employees bump them down during the final hour before boarding. In one case a family of 5 appeared out of the blue. I'd assume that can't be that common, especially for international flights, right?
Also, besides normal ZED fares. Are there any other benefits if you non-rev on Star Alliance carriers?
If it's a vacation that you actually want to make it on and the loads aren't wide open, just buy the tickets. Both rev and non-rev people appear out of the blue all of the time. The only accurate load is the one after the boarding door has closed.
