I did this before making my last move and one of the guys actually called me to chat about what each of us were doing as he was thinking of bidding my seat. If someone does give you crap, they're probably paranoid about something they're doing...so be sure to watch them more, you'll probably learn a trick or two lol.
All very important points, which is why it's great to look at a handful of people at your base and seniority. You may have wildly different experiences of those 20% senior and/or in a different base. Also, are you (and you spouse if it applies) good with longer trips? I flew with a guy who was leaving the 330 because his wife couldn't stand him being gone for 6+ days at a time (young kids) and he didn't want to bid reserve (commutes). I didn't mind them at first, but I just got sick of the 6 day trips and now I'd rather not even fly a 3 day, but I don't commute.
Any tips on bidding for training? Heading to Mecca end of this month till pretty much oct 27th. Do I even have to bid or will it all prepopulate training on my schedule? Also, if I wanted to request OE out of a base other than the base I’m on, is that an icrew function? Tia
