Why are our new hires leaving? Short story, a new hire 25 yr old will earn $5,694,454 more at United in a 40 year career compared to our current contract.

If we got a 30% pay raise for all pilots, all years of service,, $319.33 for a 12 yr CA ($366.91 per hr converted), a 25 yr old going to United would still make $2.241,452 MORE in a 20 yr career.

In a 30 yr career a 35 yr old new hire would make $3,925,709 more compared to our current contract and $1,417,118 if we got a 30% pay raise (which Im sure the company has no interest in).

This is just apples to apples. No perdiem difference, work rules, or lost interest in retirement contributions (a big one).

I was really conservative on the numbers:

Assumptions: United, 2024 AIP pay rates, 73 hr min, Upgrade at yr 5 to 737 CA, yr 13 to 757 CA, and yr 17 to 767/787 CA, and yr 20 to 777 CA (current 777 junior CA is 20 yrs), NEC of 17%, Avg profit sharing 8.5% (united buddy says it will be 8 to 9% w new formula).

SWA assumptions: Upgrade after yr 6, 89 tfp, 15% nec, 5% PS.
