Worst case scenario...possibly.
It would most certainly be April or May, and training (including IOE) will take at least 3 months. For others, it is much closer to 5 months Someone hired in the first class of October would not be finished with training until after the New Year. At that point, yes, they would likely spend Jan/Feb/Mar based somewhere else. That is absolutely the worst case scenario.
This is, of course, dependent on which aircraft they are assigned. If they are assigned to the wrong aircraft, it will be much worse. For instance, if they want to be in ORD but are assigned to the 320. Right now, even after the new hire seat lock is up, it looks like everyone is currently being withheld from any new awards. This can be up to 9 additional months with the new contract where you are stuck somewhere else because you can't be trained on the new airplane you bid.
