But honestly I think they did a fantastic job given the situation and either way it sounds like the airplane was going to be on its belly so what difference does it really make. Glad nobody was hurt.
Go to Atlanta? This plane was bound for Memphis initially, correct? That is a 30 minute flight. They circled around CHA burning precious fuel, apparently had hydraulic issues, no indication of how much of the gear was hanging out creating more drag and by extension would have no way of knowing if they would/could have made ATL. It seems to me that there were way too many unknowns to just bugger off to ATL. Based off what is being reported so far, it looks to me that this crew did the right thing. Well done.
