It takes 5 minutes to figure how to fly the Bus. The side stick is a joy, the box no big deal. I have flown 737, 757, 767, 777, 787, 319, 320, 330. I have gone back and forth between Boeing and Airbus multiple times, and it was always quicker and easier to go back to Airbus than Boeing. And the 737? The absolute worst flying heap of junk ever 😂. I’d retire before I ever flew the 737 again. Comfort is key and all airline flying is boring!

As far as SFO 320 trips, I’m a mid ranged captain and average 1.7 legs per day in a month. Yes, I do quite a few red eyes (I flew ultra long haul for 13 years so I don’t mind red eyes). But most the red eyes out of SFO on the bus are quite easy, one 3.5 hour leg that gets you in around 3:30 am on your body clock, so if you get straight to sleep at the hotel (which is usually the close airport hotel) you basically just stayed up really late and get a pretty good sleep and up by noon.

I enjoy the small town layovers.

The biggest gripe is often layovers are too short to have an adult beverage, or getting in late with enough time for an adult beverage but nothing open. The second biggest gripe is long sits at hubs, basically being a free field standby for the company. But with the new contract you’ll either get paid for it, or they happen less.

Go to the Bus, you will not regret it.

And one last thing, in tough times, bad economies, pandemics, or terrorist unrest, when you find yourself out of a job you’ll thank yourself for having experience in both Boeing and Airbus. I know this from experience…
