Frontier Airlines ends jet service to five cities
DENVER (AP) - Frontier Airlines Holdings and Republic Airways say they've ended a code-sharing agreement, which means the Denver-based carrier will end service to five cities.
Frontier Airlines will gradually eliminate 12 Republic aircraft from its operations by mid-June, and says it will reallocate some aircraft to serve more markets with the potential for long-term profitability.
Service will end by June 1st to Sioux City, Iowa; Jacksonville, Florida; Little Rock, Arkansas; Memphis, Tennessee and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The carrier is also canceling plans to start service to Missoula, Montana.
Republic says it will file a 260-million-dollar damage claim due to the early termination of the Frontier deal, but says a bankruptcy court will decide how much it can recover.
Frontier is reorganizing under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
