I think they still tend to prefer to hire people form the Northeast. They are a nationwide operation now, but I got the feeling from talking with them at one job fair that the customer base and main operations are still centered around the Northeast corridor.
My last few rotations the FOs have been based out West (PHX, SAN and SLC). The BVU base is starting to get more aircraft flown there as the Maintenance side there is increasing. So yes while most of the flights are in the East (primarily FL and the Northeast) there are flights in the West everyday.
As for hiring they still want you to be within 100 miles of a base to guarantee that you will have no more than a two hour drive to the base.
