Passed away on November 7. One of the very best.

• Fighter pilot
• Master's Degree in Aernautical Engineering
• Commander of Gemini 7, two weeks in Earth orbit
• Served on the Apollo 1 AIB
• Commander of Apollo 8, first mission to orbit the moon
• Chairman of the Board of Eastern Airlines

His passing didn't get much immediate press for a man of some legendary accompishments. If you were alive at time and paying attention, you'll never forget the reading from the Book of Genesis in lunar orbit, Christmas Eve of 1968.
