This was addressed on the majors forum, but just to clarify, DAL and NWA each lost about $250 Million. The billions in losses they claimed was a charge due to lost market cap, and is not an operating loss, a cash loss, or anything that they have to pay. Not sure why they chose to claim the market cap drop as a loss, but presumeably it was some sort of funny-money issue related to the merger.
