That's not entirely true. If pilots have a criteria bid in, the system STILL awards trips in the real time trade window by seniority, seniority, seniority...before the fast fingers even get a wiff at it.

First Look Run An assignment (trip, short call, or field standby) that becomes unassigned during the Real Time window (after the 1045 run LBT), will trigger a First Look Run. As the assignment becomes available after 1045 LBT, the Real Time Trip Trade System searches for matching requests and awards each trade in seniority order. Addition of Premium Pay to a trip (50%, 75%, or 100%) will also trigger a First Look Run. Note: An assignment that becomes unassigned in the Real Time window and triggers a First Look Run may not generate an Open Pairing Alert, if the Real Time System immediately awards the assignment to a matching request.
