Lee Moak summed it up for me today. Evidently at NWA there are a lot of very senior Republic pilots who want to get in a widebody but cannot because they can't bump someone out of their current seat. Lee is not going to allow the Republic pilots to get into a widebody seat at the expense of the Delta pilots.
I am not trying to flame here, but I feel the need to address the above statement. The very Republic pilots that you speak of are the guys I fly with every day. While most feel like the Roberts award did them an injustice everyone of them that I have flown with since the merger was rumored has mentioned they don't want the inequities they endured to be done to any DAL pilots. As mentioned AV8ER13, a lot of these guys can hold wide body CA positions already but have elected to maintain the QOL that they currently enjoy.
