Did some other things in life before getting here in my mid 40s. There are 17000+ folks on our list right now and I have almost 10,000 behind me. Even though I was hired relatively early in this wave, I will top out somewhere in the mid 2000s----maybe spend the last year or two on reserve in NYC on the WB.

Why do I mention this? It's because the top end of most people's career here is being a senior captain in the NB, not the WB. A couple of more numbers. Like many other carriers, the path to riches at DAL is paved with seniority. If you're senior enough, you can manipulate your schedule and days off, ensuring you get a lot of premium. When you take into account being senior in the seat, here's what those numbers look like: top 20% 330A: seniority number 580. top 20% 350A: 434. Top 20% 765A: 473. Bottom line: if you aint here right now, it will take more than 35 years to climb that hill if you're lucky. You won't spend your life in the widebody eating bon bons (unless you hang out in the right seat). You'll spend the majority of your time doing domestic NB A banging around the Hams and the Villes---just like Southwest.

Only caveat I would have is to pay attention to the 321neo numbers. That will be the main NB fleet for us going forward. My guess is SWAPA will look to the Max 10 very closely to keep pace with that.

At any rate, congrats on your progess so far. Hope you guys get what you want out of it. Remember that the grass is always greener because it's fertilized with someone else's BS.
Thanks very much. I think there’s this perception that everybody will retire on a widebody. The reality is there probably aren’t enough widebodies for EVERYBODY to do that. There’s likely a bell curve and the better comparison (if you’re into the whole APC W2 Johnson measuring contest) is the middle of the curve narrowbody folks.
