Reapplying for medical after Melanoma
I’m a previous corporate pilot and Im trying to get some insight into the process of reapplying for a medical after cancer. Im 47 was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma. I was diagnosed 11/2018 treated for 3 years and received an all clear 2 years ago. I did not think I would get to this point but now that I am, Im thinking about flying again. From my understanding I have to be clear for 3 years to reapply since it spread to different areas. Has anyone been through this? Did you send in your medical history (diagnoses, CT scans, brain MRI) to the FAA right at the 3 year mark or before? How long did the process take? Was there much of a learning curve flying again? Hard to find a job after being gone so long? Thanks for any help.
