I don’t believe this is true. Yes, BI assignments are seniority based, but not everyone is
eligible for a CA award, & I don’t see anything in the contract that states they can only assign 8-F-12 CAs if the eligible pilots are
also the most junior in class.
So theoretically, you could have a BI class where 10 8-F-12s need to be assigned but the bottom guy isn’t eligible, so they assign the bottom 2-11 guys CA slots & the ineligible 8-ball gets an FO seat. I should say I don’t know for a fact that’s happening & I haven’t really seen any communications from the company or union updating us on the matter, but my reading of the contract doesn’t bind the company in the way you’re claiming.
