When I got hired at Delta I was an FE. I was stoked the day I got awarded right seat of the 88. I spent over a decade on that plane both left and right seat. It was actually a fine airplane and I thoroughly enjoyed my time on it. The most fun was being an LCP doing OE. Very much enjoyed it.
Don't scoff the mad doggie, was a fine machine and earned us a lot of $$$ for the airline.
Oh don't get me wrong, the idiots are these guys acting like engine position makes you any more or less a pilot. If love to hear one of them say the 727 wasn't a "real" airliner
