My situation:
- Live in DFW (40m from airport), and I'd prefer to keep it this way.
- Massive focus on QOL.
- Under 25 years old.
- FO with 9-12 years before upgrading in DFW.
- I like waking up late and staying up late. So much so that I'd sacrifice a requested day off to avoid waking up early.
- I live for reserves.
I currently average 16 days off per month. And I average 22 days where I get to sit at home per month (including reserve days I am not called). I haven't flown in three months. I average 30.39 hours of flying per month, and credit an average of 77.4 hours per month. I wanted to see how AA would compare, especially with all the coming retirements.
A few of my questions:
- With daily preferences, once senior enough, is it possible to get RAP after 10am in DFW for all your RAPs?
- How rough is having buckets ordered by RDW? Is it possible to fly an average of 10 days per month or less on reserves with the right seniority?
- Is SCR or LCR used more?
- Is there any possibility to trade or drop trips?
- What relative seniority is needed to get a week off for Thanksgiving and Christmas? I've gotten accustomed to having 1-2 weeks off for all major holidays.
- How many days can you get off in a row each month? I can usually get 9 days in a row easily every single bid period right now.
- What is the minimum number of reserve days in a row? The max?
- How does sick-when-called work? Does it have special requirements?
- 21 days of vacation... if you use it all at once, can you expect to have an entire month off?
- Personal Leaves of Absence: Is it possible to get something like this approved down the line? I figured this could work instead of the drop to zero NK has. For something like flying a personal plane around the world.
- How is the QOL on reserves? Used and abused?
- How long is "promptly report"? Would living 2h away from base be too far?
- Line holder days off: How many days off can a line holder expect if they bid for the minimum amount?
- If I was a line holder and only needed 65 credit hours per month. Is it possible to fly less to get down to that number? Or do you have to be really senior?
Thanks, everyone!
Several excellent responses for you to peruse.
