This. Having to inspect every square millimeter of every structure built by Spirit because they can't be trusted, having a flawed repair system that can't even decide whether pulling a door plug is "removing" or "opening", then quibbling over that distinction so long that they forget to track the event and don't even inspect the re-work... Complete process failure, caused and compounded by a panicked leadership pushing an unrealistic timeline. 100% of the pressure needs to be on getting structures and sub-systems delivered that actually meet specifications, not pressuring the assembly line to accomplish a mountain of re-work in such a hurry that they quibble over whether or not the re-work needs an inspection or not.
Never mind that any certified mechanic could go to jail for doing what these clowns have been doing for years... You read the part about the spirit "re-work" where instead of repairing/replacing improperly installed rivets, they simply painted over them to hide the substandard work? That kind of thing deserves jail time but they're getting away with that without any consequences at all.
The only thing that surprises me is that congress hasn't shut down the entire 737 production line on the basis of the whistleblower's letter. It's apparently all fully documented so justification for the shutdown and a list of people to face charges shouldn't be too hard to find.
