The FAA doesn't contain the core competencies that industry has. Why would they, they are oversight?Often times (actually in 99% of the cases) Industry is responsible to develop and train the FAA compentency especially on specialized skill sets. They're in no position to be oversight, but other than to be political bobble heads that sway to the breeze that blows. It's blowing a full gale towards Witch Burning at the moment, and so here we are.

How about SWA Leadership heavily shunting development of a modern narrowbody, where's that accountability. Ah yes, years after The Man has his millions and is far removed from the crime scene. Now Herbs airline can't grow. Geez, that is really unfortunate. But I got minez you see.

How about selling jets to countries that have less competence, where the pilot shortage, safety culture, and cockpit authority gradient lines intersected onto crash scenes that couldve been avoided by turning off the autothrottles, autopilot and electric trim systems.

These are the really seemingly difficult politically divisive truths that aren't being discussed.

So here we are.
It's funny you should mention this especially given the latest diversity push at the FAA and this administration.

The Federal Aviation Administration is actively recruiting workers who suffer “severe intellectual” disabilities, psychiatric problems and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency’s website.

“Targeted disabilities are those disabilities that the Federal government, as a matter of policy, has identified for special emphasis in recruitment and hiring,” the FAA’s website states. “They include hearing, vision, missing extremities, partial paralysis, complete paralysis, epilepsy, severe intellectual disability, psychiatric disability and dwarfism.”

The initiative is part of the FAA’s “Diversity and Inclusion” hiring plan, which claims “diversity is integral to achieving FAA’s mission of ensuring safe and efficient travel across our nation and beyond.”

So I went to the FAA website... surely this must be cherry-picked. Well, here it is on the FAA website: https://www.faa.gov/

I'm so glad that our Chinese friends for example are all embracing this virtuous philosophy, and not just in aviation sectors, but also the military. I feel so elated that PLAAF or Chinese Air Force is all about ensuring their women and transgender pilots feel included and that their maternity flight suits can also apply to those who also identify as women, and PLAN or the Chinese Navy is also on the major inclusivity push to keep up with us and all of them have significantly ramped up their DEI goals to match the might of the USAF and USN, particularly in those areas. But see, we're still leading this race because we enable kids to identify as something other than what they were born with, and unlike the Chinese who are still years behind us in this regard, we nurture and encourage our kids and future warfighters to be nimble and flexible with their identities.

What a time to be alive!
