While some of the older 747-400s will likely retire in 5-7 years, the newer 747-8s may likely operate for decades. This is because the 747 nose loaders operate in a special niche which premier customers seek out. While the 77 and a yet to be named airframe (A330 or 350 possibly) will likely carry Atlas for decades, the option to fly the 747 may be here for a while. The world wide demand for wide body is projected to continue to exist for some time and we operate a significant percentage of the world inventory.
