It was too hard to get the supposed value of the points (.5 and .84 respectively). We do have a gaggle of kids so rooms for six usually ended being astronomical, especially with Hilton. We now have a Venture X for 2 percent back and IMHO the best overall card is from Redstone FCU. Anyone can join. 5% restaurants and gas, 3% groceries, Target and Walmart; 3% wholesale, streaming and utilities. 1.5% on everything else.

Gaggle of kids makes it harder for the points game- Cash back is easier for families. I usually save our points for trips without the kids. No way am I taking them to St Regis Maldives to an overwater room- never stop dating your wife and points make for good romantic trips
I liked the venture X. I had it for the bonus, but I already had two travel cards at the time (CSR and Costco). So I got the bonuses and got rid of it after a year
