I'm not sure how long it would take to hold a line, but reserve can be a pretty sweet gig, especially if you live within 2 ish hours of the airport.
Ill add to this though, that even though the 717 is the lowest paying/smallest and maybe least desirable fleet in some folks eye's, it's a smaller fleet, so relatively speaking less new hires come to it compared to the 320/737, and I don't believe anyone really voluntarily bids to the right seat of it from another airframe. So one's seniority rise isn't really going to be the maddog vertical rise that it might have been in the past. As of right now, id be more senior on the 320/737 than I currently am on the 717 by just under 10% points.
