It is a huge plus to stay on your current airframe (QOL etc.) and get the higher rate if that is your desire.
There is a certain benefit to the company as training is costly and takes you off line for months as well as having to train your replacement.
I have been looking forward to this especially getting closer to 65 and not wanting to work until 67.
