So do you think I should use this site to list or as all my friends tell me to do... just got up to the gate and request a seat there?

Just to be clear, as far as I know, dlnet is to list for S3 non-rev only. I can't list for the JS on there. I don't know if you guys at COMAIR can. If I am using the JS I have to list at the gate, or on the phone if that's the way the airline likes it, ie F9 or WN.

With that said, you can do what you want. In my opinion, it makes it easier if you are listed. If you list at home, then go to the airport you can check in at the kiosks out front, get your seat request, then go to the gate and just wait for your name to pop on the screen or the gate agent to call it and issue you your seat.

I don't know if you plan on commuting or not. But sometimes gate agents can get very busy, and having a bad day at the same time. If you are running across the airport trying to make the ride home, and they are closing out the flight clearing out the standbys and it's almost go time, you come running up, the first thing they are going to ask is "are you listed?" Like I said, if they are busy, and having a bad day, they can get VERY frustrated with you. Sometimes it seems as if they have to open a time lock safe to list you and get you a seat with as much button pushing they have to do.

Also, say you are scheduled to be done at noon. Have an early leg to the hub, maybe an hour sit, then a turn then you are done at 12, your commute leaves at 12:30. If you list the night before, when you get to the hub you can check in for the ride before your turn. All the pressure is off. Just walk to the gate and again, wait for your name to show on the screen or your name to be called.

Just what I usually do, it seems that whether or not you are JS'ing or non-reving, it's just easier to have all your ducks in a row when you show up at the gate. There have been times when I was JS'ing, and so was the guy behind me. I walk, "are you listed?" I say "yeah". JS pass is in hand, I say "thanks" and step aside. The guy behind me walks up, "are you listed", he says "no". He's made to feel like a heel by the agent. It's just the way it is. Especially offline. I said it before, and that one dude disagreed, so I respectfully disagreed with him. Even though you don't know it, you are representing your airline. When I commuted from IAH to DEN on F9, a CAL guy flew off the handle on a gate agent one time because he didn't follow their procedures for JS'ers, at THAT station and the gate agent didn't give him a pass. Well, let's just say that they were not too nice to CAL guys when they walked up after that if not listed for a while after that.

Now, like I said, the JS has turned into the epitome of the erosion of CA's authority. The CA has the final say who JS's on HIS airplane, ONCE the JS'er gets past the gate agents. If you are JS'ing and for some reason there's another guy and he's having problems, like the gate agent can't find him in CASS (for whatever reason) or he's way back in line, etc, when you go down, TELL the CA about it. Say, "there's another guy out there and he's having problems with the trying to get a pass". If he's got time and he's not a tool, he will go up to the gate and try to help. You'd be surprised what can happen when the CA shows up.

Boy, that sure was a long winded answer to your question.
