This is from an article on the front page of yesterday's WSJ. Apparently Delta was serious and is hiring pilots without a college degree at about the same rate as those with a degree. Good for DAL.
"Out of more than 7,500 applicants, Delta has interviewed around 150 people without four-year degrees for pilot jobs, and 70% of them have gotten job offers, around the same offer rate as degree-holders, Hendrick said.

I used to be "pro-degree" only from a perspective of a thinner app pile equates to tighter supply equal more pricing power for us. But beyond a certain point lay diminishing returns.
As an actual issue, I've been degree agnostic or even "anti-degree" when the rubber meets the road on this issue, particularly considering how corrupt the entire "Big Edu" industry has become.
Its time to relegate "college at all costs" to the ash heap of history. Its simply not needed in the vast majority of cases and often times is a net setback and financial liability as a start contrast to the "investment in education" hyperbole.
