At DAL, we start getting paid, and the flight is considered "pushed back" when the beacon is on. You can almost see the pack lifted off the rampers shoulders when that light comes on. Even if the aircraft is not completely ready when the light goes on (not that anyone I know would EVER do that) you can see the rampers won't be hung with the delay. This is quite a controversy over on the DAL side... And... it was a very lame attempt at humor on my part... sorry

Better watch out, the beacon police will be after you. Right after the APU sheriff gets done because you started the APU 4 minutes prior rather than the 3. Seems we have a bunch of failed law enforcement types, ala "Super Troopers."
