To play devil's advocate, I think there's a big difference between taking 321's to Amsterdam, Paris and London like B6 has and going to Shannon, Manchester and Reykjavik like AA likely would. AA can likely charge a premium for direct service and/or have better margins going in and out of cheaper airports.
