Once the aircraft is certified, then start building -10s again. United also will get some kickback from Boeing for those swaps I am sure…. But the -10 is still happening….
Its also possible that the 2 month hiring pause (May June) is because the company is unsure whether those pilots hired should be trained in the 737 or Airbus. The MAX 10 deliveries for 2024 and 2025 are about the same number of A321s that Spirit and JB have deferred, so its possible that this gives United time to grab those deferrals and figure out which plane mix is coming in the next 2 years.
Also the pause in hiring announcement was before the decision to convert the MAX-10 to MAX-9s and keep deliveries coming. So who knows what will actually happen.
I bet we'd get all of Airbus's close in deferrals if it included an Airbus WB order with actual near-term delivery dates.
