Granted the 1100G only fits the 320/321 NEO, (too big for 737Max) but the pool of available airframes is larger to spread the R&D Cost out over. The only other common airframe using that thrust class is the C-17.
75s biggest problem is that there is nothing else in it's class. It's the biggest, longest range, heaviest narrowbody out there. Period.. It's basicaly a widebody and a half, but with widebody systems, brakes, etc.
But the engines for it would fit the 757 and C-17. That's it. Market is not big enough to support that R&D Budget and have a ROI anywhere near where the company wants to see.
Well said. The 757 is a wonderful plane, but it sold poorly and wouldn’t sell today compared to the new slate of NBs. It’s simply too much airplane to haul around for the edge cases in which it shines
