It's not DEI it's self but the optics of DEI. When a company that incessantly and without shame trumpets how woke they are with TV and print ads, billboards, airport signage etc. starts stacking airplanes, people, inculding the flying public right or wrong are going to form opinions.
Very few people outside of United see new hire class pictures but the masses DO see the ads and the billboards.
So you're saying DEI has zero negative impact on safety or operations, but the people going on bigoted rants about how "those people" can't possible be good at their jobs actually have no idea what they're talking about and have zero facts to support their conclusions? Yeah that tracks!
