We have a big presence in SJU and they would love to open a base there because it makes business sense, not because they love us. We are a part of that equation for staffing, and having folks local for when shiet hits the fan, but the decision is not being made for caring about us.
They also dont want a majority of commuters being based there because when a hurricane pass through then everyone commuting will be OOP. So again, its not because they care abt pilots. Its abt money and protecting the operation when things go sideways.
Right, when you look at the interactive Jetblue route map and see where we do non-crew base to non-crew base flying it is majority SJU, with BDL/TPA/DCA being the other similar cities. We break a lot of pairing in these cities because of this and adding crew bases there would help reliability and re-crewing those flights during an IROP.
I can’t see a new crew base west of BUF until we get bought/merged with someone else.
