I've heard the suspicion that the stop was timed to pressure on Boeing for additional concessions (and AA did the same thing) re: the aircraft delivery situation. A pause starting in June or July would have made more sense for summer flying. Everyone except the bean counters is going to be wishing that they had an extra 200+NB pilots in the domestic system come July and August.
One of the VPs came in to speak with us last week and he mentioned that the pause was mainly due to lack of deliveries. The was to analyze where we would flow NHs (737 or 320) depending on Boeing or Airbus. Albeit, this was before the CHEP was announced, but it seems like that disruption won’t last long neither
