What hes talking about is that just because you are a RJ FO it doesnt mean you make RJ pay. Its based on senority. For exmple (disclaimer: numbers made up because Im to lazy to go at look at the FO pay groups right now) There are 105 qualified RJ FO's and 150 qualified 400 FO's The most seinor 105 FO's get the Rj payscale, then the next 150 FO's get 400 pay, and currently the rest are on the 200 payscale. Also remember that lets say your the 105th guy from the top and 1 guy in the rj upgrades. There is now only 104 qualified FO's tada HELLO you just got bumped back to 400 pay. Surprise and enjoy.
Maybe Im just slow. But it seems to me, that if I have X amount of years with the company, and Im CA or FO in a given type of airplane, I should make what the amount per hour that my seniority and seat in the given A/C type as per the contract says.
