Coming from the era when training contracts were common and routine, it is very much legal. It’s a matter of how much the company wants to enforce it. Some used it to scare people into staying, some went full on commando going after pilots who broke it without paying. I’m guessing BB will be the later. Sad to see it happen here.
They still do it in the rotary world, but NEVER more than a year and I’ve never seen it enforced. It will be hard to hold up in court if it made it that far. I agree with your sentiment though.
