While at certain points in time (10-20 years ago), these things were true, recommendations and industry practices have changed. First, I completely agree that FedEx is behind the times on may things, but the specific items I highlighted are very current and if they are not at all carriers, they will be soon.
The FAA automation working group report first came out in 2013, and the draft revision has been circulated. Recommendations on keeping hands on the throttles during certain phases, particularly mode transitions (obviously not for Airbus) as well as who is programming the FMS in climbs and descents is still very current. I did not mean to imply that they should be on at all times, I misread the initial post. All the time is not something we even did on the 727!
The FSF recommendations are very current. The 2 minute debrief originated from Convergent Performance, but many operators have since adopted it. I just prefer to to it enroute to the hotel or the bar!
