After 7 months on the sh-tty Florida market, we finally sold our house during indoc. I needed to close on the house and move early in OE, right after the sims. I went to the OE scheduler
6 weeks prior (during indoc) and told them what days I needed. I got the "I'll try, but no promises" answer. 6 weeks later, after multiple personal visits/phone calls/emails to the OE scheduler, and a personal visit with the fleet captain (who said he couldn't do anything for me and to talk to the OE scheduler), I was still sitting at "maybe". On the Friday before the Monday the movers showed up, I had my new-guy meeting with the chief pilot. He said "anything we can do to help you out?" Why yes, there is...his answer (100% true): "if you haven't heard anything by Monday
(the day the movers were supposed to be there!), give me a call and
I'll see what I can do". YGTBSM...I almost left my ID on his desk I was so p-ssed off.
It worked out, but I didn't find out until Sat that I would actually have those days off. Bottom line...everyone talked a good game, but it was like pulling teeth to get it to actually work out...and at the very last minute. Work it early and don't let up.
