The 787-9 and -10 IGW models coming out will be hard to be beat. They should be able to cover the retiring 777s. I am assuming the majority of UA's 200+ 787 order will be the new IGW variant. Hopefully the FAA and Boeing will get it certified relatively fast.
This is the model BA and UAL are waiting for to proceed with firm orders, mid to late this year (43 B777-200s for BA need to be replaced, almot same age as UAL)
