Explain to me why some of you are so against raising the age to 67. Not everyone will fly to that age. If someone can hold a valid medical then what's the problem? Because it keeps you from holding day turns for a year or so longer? Is that really your reasoning? I know a lot of 64+ year old people who are sharp as a tack, mentally and physically. And I know some decades younger who shouldn't be allowed to drive a car. So why the random age restriction?(2 years below our government retirement age btw) I've never understood the oppostion of this except for the selfish position of a younger pilot group. Everyone will approach this age one day (God willing). If you want to retire at 65, great! 60 awesome. But why keep others who are capable and willing and desire to still fly from being able to do so?
For the record I still have 9 years left, so this bill doesn't affect me right now, I'm just amazed and curious at the selfishness of so many pilots. Many of you who will be clamoring for this bill when you're less than 3 years away from the arbitrary retirement age some day.
