We heard the same thing about getting A-321s just 2 years ago, and now we have 170 of them on order.
Also the A330 and A350 are common type ratings, just like 757-767 so we could get both planes and fly them with a single group of pilots, making it one fleet. It makes even more sense to get both if we are going to get A-350s because now we have a comparable 767 replacement.
No one in their right mind would ruled out the A321neo completely…. Especially, when Boeing decided not to move forward with the NMA as a 757/767 replacement which forced United hands to finally move forward on the A321neo….
