Some conflicting and perhaps outdated info out there about folks who used to do it.

I'm also curious which area you like (safety, access to food, gym etc) while sitting reserve and/or if the ORD parking lot is accessible to park RVs when you need to go on a trip?

TIA!
Having lived in one during home construction, it won’t really work well (for you.) Somewhere warm you could pull it off, but winter will be tough. Any water in the RV will freeze so you won’t be able to use a toilet or any of the faucets, shower etc. There are some ways around that happening, but not as a crash pad where you’ll be leaving it for days/weeks at a time. Unless you’re at a campground you’ll need a full solar setup. Whether you’re running something brand new with a heat pump or a standard furnace for heat- it’ll be a decent battery draw. Not to mention you’ll blow through propane in the dead of winter. Best case scenario is a solar sprinter type van. Then use a chemical pump style toilet that you could empty like the old corporate jet honey pots. For showers your best bet is something like a planet fitness black card.
